All About Dr. McFaddin

Dr. McFaddin grew up in Baltimore, MD. She received her BA in biology from Kenyon College (Gambier, OH) in 2003. She graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Blacksburg, VA) in 2007. After graduation she completed a 1-year rotating surgical and medical internship at Animal Emergency and Referral Center (currently known as Blue Pearl Northfield) in Northbrook, IL. Dr. McFaddin worked as a small animal general practitioner in the suburbs of Chicago from 2008-2012. She also provided emergency relief coverage for Blue Pearl during this time. In May 2012 she formed her own relief business called Put A Pinn In It, which provided general practice and emergency coverage for veterinary hospitals in the Chicagoland area until May 2014.


In December 2013 she completed her certification for veterinary acupuncture (CVA) through The Chi Institute (Reddick, FL). In October 2015 she completed her certification for Chinese Veterinary Food Therapy (CVFT). In January 2016 she completed a post-doctorate in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (CVSMT) through The Healing Oasis (Sturtevant, WI). Dr. McFaddin is also certified through the College of Animal Chiropractors (CCOAC). In April 2016 she completed a 2.5 year post-doctorate in Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine (Graduate Diploma CVHM) through the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies (Australia).


Dr. McFaddin joined Independent Hill Veterinary Clinic in October 2015. She provides both Western (traditional) and Eastern (holistic) therapies. Dr. McFaddin’s primary interest is Integrative Medicine which combines the best of both Eastern and Western medicine. She is very interested in veterinary spinal manipulation, acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, whole food therapy, and natural supplements. Dr. McFaddin has contributed to and written several veterinary articles for PetMD.com and Gray Face Acres Senior Dog Rescue. In August 2018 Dr. McFaddin started a veterinary podcast called, Vetsplaining.


When not working, Dr. McFaddin spends time with her husband (Jay), son (JJ), dog (Winston), 2 cats (Ringo and Rebound), guinea pig (Gilbert), sulcata tortoise (Scooter), and her Russian tortoise (Herman). She is an avid crafter with a special love for knitting.
